A Note To E-Mail Abusers

Don't you just hate these ridiculous emails about love and friendship and how if you pass it on you'll have good luck?

Crap.

How about the ones that say some company is tracking the email and the 1,000,000th sender gets some sort of prize.

More crap.

And those are the harmless ones.

Check out hoaxes and such online. They are all garbage. Every last one of them.

Recently I had received two that particularly ticked me off. One was about a young boy with cancer and his dying wish was to have his story sent all over the e-world. I did my research (it took all of two minutes) and discovered it was, as I suspected, a hoax. Some jerk thought they'd get a kick out of pulling on people's heart strings and thousands of people actually believed it -- the two minutes it takes to disprove an email like this is more effort than sending and infecting others with more BS.

The last one was even more shameful. Right Wing America loves to jump at any opportunity to slam organizations such as the ACLU. So when I got the email showing a photo of Marines bowing their heads and a statement that the ACLU was against the idea of Marines praying, I had to look it up. It took thirty seconds.

Like the other ones, it was crap.

Of course, I emailed everyone that was sent this bogus story and reported to them that it was crap and even gave them links to show it.

The fact is that it was an attempt by some hate-filled person to garner anger toward a "liberal" organization by painting it as un-American. The sad part is that the chain went pretty far back. It means that hundreds, if not thousands, were fooled by this obvious lie.

Do yourselves a favor: question EVERYTHING that comes your way.

And do not send me ANY emails like these.
